Welcome to Sky Quarry's Asphalt Shingle Offset Program! We are excited to introduce this new, innovative solution to homeowners, that not only helps reduce carbon emissions but contributes to a circular economy and supports environmental sustainability.
How It Works
Our Closed Loop Recycling Process In Action
Making a Postive Impact
By offsetting the environmental impact of your asphalt shingle roofing project, you are demonstrating your commitment to:
- Reducing your personal carbon footprint
- Diverting waste from landfills
- Supporting renewable energy projects
- Promoting a cleaner future
- Conserving natural resources
Click below to find out how easy it is to recycle shingle waste equal to the amount generated from your roofing project.
About Us
Every Year 15 million tons of recyclable asphalt shingles get dumped into landfills, the equivalent of throwing away 20 MILLION barrels of oil.
Sky Quarry was founded with the mission to solve this problem using our unique proprietary process that provides a closed-loop recycling solution that recovers both material and oil from waste asphalt shingles. This recovered material can then be reused for other uses and post-consumer materials.
The Take-Make-Waste Approach
The linear economy is a take-make-waste approach, where resources are extracted to make products that eventually end up as waste and are thrown away. Products and materials are generally not used to their full potential and generally always move in one direction – from raw material to waste. It is a polluting system that depletes natural systems and is the driver of many of the global challenges we face today across the globe and is simply not sustainable.
A circular economy on the other hand keeps materials, products, and services in circulation for as long possible.
At Sky Quarry we believe that transitioning from a linear to a circular economy through the development and use of cleaner technologies and recycling our natural resources just makes sense.
Did You Know?
-
Sky Quarry's facility has the ability to recycle...
up to 1 million tons of shingles annually.
-
For the capture of 1 million tons of Co2 emissions...
50 million trees must grow for one year.
*According to Climate Neutral Group, 50 trees must grow for one year to capture 1 ton of Co2
-
Recycling 1 million tons of waste shingles...
yields approximately 84 million gallons of diesel fuel.
*A 42 gallon barrel of oil weighs approximately 136kg, so taking the extra step we can therefore determine that a ton of shingles could contain 150-350kg of asphalt (15-35%), which equates to approximately 2 barrels or 84 gallons of oil recovered.
